ToolGuard VCI offers simple, effective, unbeaten protection against corrosion.

ToolGuard VCI releases powerful corrosion inhibiting vapours which block corrosion on iron and steel in damp and humid conditions (up to 100% RH).

Each ToolGuard VCI provides up to 12 months protection in a volume of up to 2 cubic feet. They are designed to protect tools and components in storage cases, toolboxes and tool chests. In large cabinets, distribute several ToolGuard VCI’s throughout the cabinets. In traditional wooden toolmakers' chests and mechanics' toolboxes with multiple drawers, use one ToolGuard VCI per drawer.

Large items or components can be protected by placing inside a strong plastic bag into which a ToolGuard VCI has been placed.

The active VCI chemical is impregnated into an absorbent pad contained within the plastic lidded container. Until the lid is removed the shelf life of the ToolGuard VCI is infinite.

• Powerful water-soluble formulation removes mineral oils and greases from tools, machinery and vehicles. Degreasing should always precede de-rusting with Restore Rust Remover.
• Biodegradable, non-toxic, water-based formulation removes grease, oil and grime and brightens all metal surfaces. It is harmless to plastics, rubbers, and copper based alloys. It should not be used on aluminium alloys.
• A powerful corrosion inhibitor is included in the formulation to protect cleaned surfaces against further corrosion.
• Extremely economical, the contents of a 500ml bottle makes up to 10 litres of powerful degreasing fluid which can be used either cold or hot.

The degreasing solution is simply made by mixing the contents of the 500ml bottle with plain tap water in a polythene or stainless steel container. For heavy contamination:- add 2.5 litres of water to 500ml of Pre-Clean. For light contamination:- add 9.5 litres of water to 500ml of Pre-Clean.

If using a stainless steel tank, the solution may be heated to approximately 60 deg.C . This will significantly improve the cleaning process.

Parts may now be de-rusted using Restore Rust Remover, plated, painted, polished or, alternatively, protected against further corrosion using MetalGuard Ultra, ToolGuard VCI or ProtecTool Wax.

The de-rusting bath is simply made by mixing the contents of the 500ml bottle with 9.5 litres of plain tap water in a polythene or stainless steel container. The part(s) are first degreased, and any loose or flaky rust removed before suspending the part in the bath. For lightly rusted surfaces, inspect after 1 hour. Remove, wash under running water and scrub surfaces with a nylon brush to remove the dissolved rust. Repeat as necessary until all rust is removed. Finally, rinse clean, dip the part into the solution, remove and dry.

If using a stainless steel tank, the solution may be heated to approximately 50 deg.C . This will significantly increase the cleaning process.

Parts may now be plated, painted, polished or protected with MetalGuard Ultra or ToolGuard VCI. When the solution becomes blackened and the process excessively slow, dispose of down a drain. The spent solution is biodegradable.

Restore Rust Remover Gel has been developed to de-rust larger bulky/heavy items which would be difficult or impossible to de-rust in a tank of Restore Rust Remover.

Typical uses include vehicle bodywork, motorcycle tanks and mudguards, machine tool tables and beds, larger woodworking tools etc.

Like Restore Rust Remover, it does not contain acids and therefore flash rusting is not a problem.

Application is by means of a scouring pad (not supplied) which is moved gently over the surface until the rust is removed and the surface is left bright and clean. It is extremely fast working, in many cases the cleaning process taking no more than a few minutes.

• ProtecTool wax polish is a soft-paste wax designed specifically to protect steel and iron tools and machinery from corrosion. Unlike ordinary wax polishes, which, at best, can only offer barrier protection, ProtecTool contains a unique blend of powerful contact corrosion inhibitors suspended in the highly refined microcrystalline wax carrier.
• ProtecTool can be buffed to a sheen producing a low friction surface which eases the passage of wood over machine tables, and significantly reduces the effort required when hand planning.
• ProtecTool can also be used to slow down the tarnishing of polished copper, brass and bronze items.

ProtecTool does not contain silicone.
