HSS-Co5 Spiral Flute Machine Metric Coarse Tap and Drill Set

Best for tapping blind holes in low to medium hardness steels, stainless steels, aluminium, copper, titanium and nickel alloys.

Spiral Flute and Spiral Point machine taps are designed to evacuate chips from the hole and prevent the chip congestion that can occur with straight flute hand taps.

Spiral Flute taps are preferred for blind holes and work best on materials that generate long stringy chips allowing the flutes to pull the chips out the top of the hole.

They are less suitable when tapping materials that produce fragmented or powdery chips such as cast iron, brass, diecast aluminium, and may not properly eject the chips with the risk of flute packing and tap breakage.
